Hello everyone,

My name is Jeanne Niskiewicz, and I am a graduate student in the Master of Nursing with a teaching focus program at Athabasca University.

I have been a Registered Nurse for 8.5 years and completed my certification in Oncology on January 2019 with the Canadian Nurses Association. I completed my undergraduate studies in nursing at York University in Toronto, Ontario.

Since graduating, I held a position as staff nurse in a surgical-oncology ward for five years and did a year stint as charge nurse in the same unit before moving an hour and a half away outside of Toronto to afford a house with a backyard for my two golden doodles.

While living and working in Toronto, I was also the Director of Recruitment and Retention for the Greater Toronto Chapter of Oncology Nurses (GTCON) for two years. I have always been passionate about oncology nursing and continuing education.

Aside from being a graduate student and an oncology clinic nurse, I am also a member of the Cancer Care Ontario Sexual Health in Oncology Community of Practice where we meet quarterly, talked about sexual health in oncology and disseminate information back to our colleagues and patients. I am also a member of both the Registered Nurses’ Association of Ontario (RNAO) and the Canadian Association of Nurses in Oncology (CANO).

Lastly, I want to spend my professional life learning and find meaning and ways to make an impact to my patients, fellow nurses, nursing students, and future nursing students. I want to reach a wider audience and to provide insight to those who may be looking for a peek at what life is as a nurse, a graduate student, a wife and at the same time a mother by sharing my experiences that made me who I am today and who I will become.

In this site, I’ve categorized different areas of my life so you can peek at whichever that may be of interest to you. You will also find my resume and LinkedIn account under the “About Me” page. If you are interested to read about my graduate student life, please check the “MN Portfolio” page. If you are visiting my page to find insight of my personal life as a working mom and a graduate student, please visit the “Blog” page for more of those lifestyle content and finally the “Podcast” for the two podcast accounts I created for those who would rather listen to my thoughts, opinions, and acquired wisdom.
